As Christians we are called to serve others. At Bethesda we take this call and make it practical through a series of hands-on ministries both locally and globally. It’s all part of demonstrating God’s love to those around us.

Our Ministries

Small Groups

Bethesda has over 30 active Home Bible Studies. These Small Group meetings provide an opportunity for discussion of the scriptures in a relaxed and informal setting. The topic of study and time of each group's meeting may vary from group to group.

Music

With music being such an effective vehicle for communicating the Love of God, and for expressing worship, our desire at Bethesda is to use effectively the skills and talents God has blessed us with, to give glory to our God. We endeavor to journey in worship to the place where we encounter God, and He changes us. Bethesda’s music ministry involves Worship Leaders, Vocalist, Musicians, Sound Operators, Projection Operators, Recording Operators, Soloists, Special Events (music nights, hymn sings, etc.) and our seasonal Christmas Choir.

International

Bethesda has a significant International population with over 30 countries represented in our congregation. A cornerstone of our International ministry is our Conversation Café on Wednesday evenings in the Fall and Winter. This English as a Second Language (ESL) program is open for anyone in the International community seeking to improve their language skills. Additionally, our International Ministries team works with other churches in the St. John’s area to provide placement assistance, basic living assistance, transportation and language assistance on a regular basis.

Missions

Missions is at the heart of Bethesda, having been established back in 1911 as the Bethesda Mission. Since then we have continued to sponsor missions activity both within Newfoundland and Labrador and around the world. Additionally, we regularly train and equip Short Term Missions (STM) Teams to assist with missions activities. Past STM endeavours have included work in Malawi, China and Senegal to name a few.

Prayer

We believe that prayer is the key to effective ministry to the church family and the community. Each Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm, members of our congregation meet for a time of prayer. We also have a Prayer Partner Phone List. If a special need is called in to the church office, a prayer partner will be contacted and he/she will pray for that need.

Women’s Ministries

The women of Bethesda are very active in a variety of specialized activities. This includes Oasis, which is for ladies of all ages and interests and meet once a month for a time of fellowship, prayer and practical spiritual instruction based on God's Word. As well, there are a variety of small groups and prayer groups that meet at different times throughout the month.
